★ Frequently asked questions · Toulon

All your questions, answered.

Everything you want to know about our VR experiences, booking, groups and the welcome at Immersia.

All about the experience 7
How long should I allow for this? +

Allow around 40 minutes in total: 10 minutes for check-in and a briefing, followed by 30 minutes of virtual reality immersion. Please plan to arrive a little early to leave your belongings and get kitted out.

How does the experiment work? +

It all begins with a welcome and a briefing with our team, who will explain how the experience works. You will then be fitted with a VR headset before entering the room for a 30-minute immersive experience. The team will then assist you in removing the equipment.

Do we have to stand for the whole experiment? +

Yes, the experience is best enjoyed standing up and on the move, with free roaming. If you are tired, have difficulty keeping your balance or are in a wheelchair, the experience can be adapted so that you can enjoy it in comfort.

Can you wear glasses or contact lenses? +

Yes. You can keep your glasses on: the team will help you adjust the headset with or without them, for maximum comfort. The experience is also suitable for contact lens wearers.

Can you feel dizzy or nauseous? +

Thanks to our free-roaming technology and the way our experiences are designed, feelings of dizziness or nausea are extremely rare. In rare cases, some people may experience mild symptoms; a team is on hand throughout to assist you.

What happens if I start to feel unwell during the immersion? +

You can stop the experience at any time. A member of staff will immediately escort you safely out of the room, and you can rest at reception, with no pressure whatsoever.

Are there any guidelines for children? +

The immersive experience is suitable for children aged 8 and over (and those at least 1.30 m tall). Children must remain under the constant supervision of an adult. If a child wishes to leave, an adult must accompany them out of the room: our team cannot supervise children outside the immersive experience.

Accessibility & health 8
What is the minimum age for taking part? +

Ages 8 and over, and from 1.30 m in height. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the session.

Is the experience accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM)? +

Yes, the experience is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Please let the team know when you arrive so that we can ensure you receive the best possible welcome.

Can people with heart conditions, epilepsy or a pacemaker take part? +

For safety reasons, people with heart conditions, those with a pacemaker or those prone to epilepsy are not permitted to take part in the virtual reality experience.

Can you take part whilst pregnant? +

The experiment involves walking and squatting, which may be uncomfortable depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy. We recommend that you consult your doctor.

Can a person who is deaf or hard of hearing take part in the experiment? +

The experience has no subtitles and is therefore not suitable for deaf people. People with hearing impairments who wear hearing aids can still enjoy it: the sound is played through speakers built into the headset, and the volume can be adjusted.

Is this experience suitable for people who are colour-blind? +

Yes. The experience relies primarily on 3D scenes, spatial depth and movement rather than on the accurate perception of colours: colour blindness does not detract from the immersive experience.

Can older people take part? +

Absolutely. If you have mobility issues or find it difficult to keep your balance, we recommend that you bring your own wheelchair or come with a companion so that you can enjoy the session to the full and in complete safety.

Are VR headsets cleaned between each session? +

Yes, the helmets and their padding are systematically cleaned and disinfected after each session, with a strict hygiene protocol followed throughout the day.

Outing ideas 6
What can you do when it rains? +

Our venues are entirely indoors and heated: the weather has no effect on the session. It is an outing you can book the day before, with no risk of a rain cancellation - handy on a grey weekend or a school-holiday afternoon.

What activity can you do as a family with children? +

The immersion is open from age 8 (and from 1.30 m tall): parents and children live the same adventure at the same time, in the same space, and can see each other throughout. Allow 40 minutes in total, including 30 minutes of immersion. No previous experience of virtual reality is needed.

Is the experience suitable for teenagers? +

Yes. Teenagers are often the most comfortable with the headsets, and the shared format - up to 12 players in the same adventure - works just as well for a group of friends as for a family outing with older children.

Do you need to have tried virtual reality before? +

No. Our team welcomes you, adjusts the headsets and explains everything before you set off: 10 minutes of welcome and briefing come before the 30 minutes of immersion. Most of our visitors discover VR with us.

Can you turn up without booking? +

We strongly recommend booking online: slots are limited and fill up fast, especially at weekends and during school holidays. Turning up without a booking does not guarantee a place on the slot you want.

Is the experience frightening for children? +

Our experiences are not horror-based: they rely on exploration and wonder, not on fear. A child is free to stop at any time, but an adult must then accompany them out of the room - our team cannot supervise anyone outside the immersion.

Bookings are made online directly with Toulon VR (DreamAway Toulon), which runs the venue: the “Book” button on this site takes you there. Booking in advance guarantees your slot, as walk-in availability is limited.
