The format

40 supervised minutes, from the first step to the last

A session runs in two parts: 10 minutes of welcome and briefing, during which our team fits each child's headset and explains what will happen, then 30 minutes of immersion. Our team stays in the room from start to finish.

The headsets are wireless: no cable limits movement, and children move freely around the play area without bumping into each other. They can see and hear one another throughout the adventure — this is not a solitary experience in front of a screen.

The immersion is open from age 8 and from 1.30 m tall. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. If one of them wants to stop, an adult must accompany them out of the room: our team cannot supervise anyone outside the immersion.

What they take away

An outing that leaves something behind

Real scientific content

Mars, exoplanets, the birth of stars, black holes — developed with an astrophysicist, Dr Pierre Henriquet.

Inside a science centre

Cap Sciences, Hangar 20: a venue whose very mission is to make science accessible.

They actually walk

No seat, no fixed controller: they move around the play area with a wireless headset on.

It can go further

The same content exists in an educational format for school classes, from primary to sixth form.

Health and safety

What to check before booking

The experience is not recommended for people with heart conditions, pacemakers or epilepsy, nor for pregnant women without medical advice. Headsets are cleaned between every session.

Glasses are worn under the headset. The experience is accessible to people with reduced mobility — let the team know on arrival so we can welcome you in the best conditions. All of these questions are covered in the Immersia Bordeaux FAQ.

Getting there, and what to see next

Immersia Bordeaux is inside Cap Sciences, Hangar 20, quai de Bacalan. Book online: slots are limited and fill up fast at weekends and during school holidays.

If you are looking for an outing for the whole family rather than for the children alone, see our family activity in Bordeaux page. And if the subject fascinates them, the astronomy in Bordeaux page details what they will actually discover.
